The Serenity Prayer

Oh God and Heavenly Father,
Grant to us the serenity of mind to accept that which cannot be changed;courage to change that which can be changed, and wisdom to know the one from the other, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

The Serenity Prayer is the common name for an originally untitled prayer, most commonly attributed to the theologian Reinhold Niebuhr. The prayer has been adopted by Alcoholics Anonymous and other twelve-step programs. Yale Book of Quotations editor Fred R. Shapiro in 2008 published evidence that a version of the prayer was in existence no later than 1936. Shapiro believes that this casts doubt on Niebuhr's authorship of the prayer. Via Wikipedia
